Non profit organisations are defined by the contributions of their volunteers, and PADCA’s vision is met in huge part by our volunteers who assist in making the difference in the lives of older people. Won’t you join us?
PADCA has a volunteer corps of over 235 people helping in our various facilities and out in the community. Working together with permanent professional staff, volunteers extend the services we provide, enabling seniors to fulfill their roles in society for as long as possible.
Some of the areas where volunteers are active and where you could get involved include:
In PADCA’s Residential and Frail Care Homes:
Visiting residents who are kinless or have no relatives living nearby.
Taking the wheelchair-bound for walks in the gardens.
Helping with gardening or maintaining the buildings to keep the surroundings looking attractive.
Serving on the management committees of our homes.
Assisting in the tuckshop or office.
Facilitating stimulation programmes for residents.
Driving residents on outings.
Assisting with mending in the laundry.
Serving on the management committees of our homes.
In the Community
Visiting older people living in the community.
Taking them shopping, to clinic or to Church.
Helping maintain their independence and dignity by doing chores and odd jobs in their homes.
At PADCA’s Head Office
Relief Reception duties.
Offering help with computer systems, both in terms of assistance with various software packages, and also hardware challenges.
General clerical assistance such as photocopying and filing.
Fundraising.
These are but some of the ways in which you can volunteer; there are many more........... all you need is a little time and energy, and the willingness to share something of yourself and your expertise.
